From the time the first mention of vacation is echoed, singles, families, and couples want to begin planning where to go. Why not relax on the Mississippi Gulf Coast? Visitors can take in the white beaches that stretch along the Coast’s Highway 90 on the way to the hotel strip. Many restaurants and even the local shopping complex, Edgewater Mall, are also here to begin a memorable getaway.
The Beau Rivage Resort and Casino
Biloxi may be a beach town, but there’s a little piece of Las Vegas at the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino. Located on the aptly named Beach Boulevard, guests may be surprised by the elegance and luxurious affordability of the hotel. Designed similarly to its sister properties in Las Vegas (the Bellagio and Mandalay Bay are also MGM-owned), a huge yellow lobby with iron chandeliers is an oasis for visitors.
There is plenty to do at the Beau Rivage. Guests can shop until they drop in the dark-paneled storefronts (such as DKNY), relax at the spa, play a round of golf, or retire to spacious rooms with king-sized beds, marble tile baths, and great city or ocean views after check-in.
When night falls, visitors can choose between six different restaurants to please their palette. Serving cuisine from Pan-Asian to the casual barbeque, there is something for everyone. Feeling lucky? Have fun and press a little luck in the Beau Rivage award-winning casino. Nickel-slots to high-stakes rooms are featured. If gambling isn’t in the cards, drink it up at one of the hotel’s three different bars, the swanky bar Eight75, the dance-party Coast, or the casino’s Breeze Bar.
The Beau Rivage Resort and Casino is located at 875 Beach Boulevard, Biloxi, MS 39530. Tel: (228)386-7444 for reservations. Rates begin at $79.
The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino
Located just a few doors down from the Beau Rivage is the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. A chain with locations all over the world, the Biloxi location is the only one in the state of Mississippi. Built in 2005, perhaps one of the most fun aspects is the hotel’s trademark guitar lit up at the entrance.
The award-winning hotel (recent winners for “Best Hotel and Casino” for the second year in a row), boasts 12-stories and 318 rooms and suites. Guests can take advantage of its many amenities, including an Aveda Concept Spa, fitness center, and the year-round tropical pool. The casino features 1400 slot machines and 50 game tables when itching for some game-playing. In addition, the Hard Rock also has seven restaurants (including Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse) and three nightclubs when guests are ready for a little nightlife. The latter’s newest addition is the sophisticated and ultra-cool, Ledge.
Perhaps what the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino is best known for however, is what makes the chain have an all-around feel-good vibe. It’s simply the rock and roll. The Biloxi location lines its hotel with rock memorabilia from many past and present stars. Current acts that have played at the hotel include rockers 3 Doors Down and Hinder, and just recently, country star Gretchen Wilson.
The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino is located at 777 Beach Boulevard, Biloxi, MS 39530. For reservations, call 1-877-877-6256 or locally, (228) 374-7625. Rates start at $69.
While there are often many choices in choosing accommodations for a getaway, the Beau Rivage and Hard Rock Hotel and Casino are two of the finest choices in the Mississippi Gulf Coast area. Aside from the beach scenery, both hotels offer guests a chance to relax and have a good time. Isn’t that what a good vacation should do?
